Appel à contributions : Contemporary Film Studies, Hanyang University
Contemporary Film Research Institute at Hanyang University is one of the leading cinema studies research institutes in Korea. The institution publishes Contemporary Film Studies (3 issues per year). The journal is a peer-reviewed Korean-language journal which is dedicated to discussing the history, theory, and aesthetics of film and the moving image. Since 2014, in an effort to providing a new international forum for scholarship and debate on Korean cinema, the journal has invited original submission from scholars working outside of Korea who wish to contribute to deepening our understanding of Korean cinema.
The journal encourages interdisciplinary and comparative research on Korean cinema, both contemporary and historical, and its interactions and relation with other national cinemas in its ever more globalized film-making practices. The journal published two theme issues on Korean cinema: Korean Cinema (Joseon Yeongwha) during the Colonial Period (Vol. 7, 2009) and The Korean Cinema After the IMF Crisis: Policies, Industry, and Culture (Vol. 19, 2014). In addition to this, since 2014, its every spring issue has presented a special section, the Best 7 Korean Movies of the Year.
